Angalia!

“Angalia!” in Kiswahili it means “Look!”. Reproduction of a photo taken a few years ago in a village which, despite being on the tourist coast of Kenya, is isolated and unspoiled.

A village where the few children do not know a different world from theirs and hardly reach the nearest town.

By painting it, I wanted to relive that moment of emotion in observing three little girls who, in their simplicity and serenity, looked at the Indian Ocean in its immensity as if wondering what was beyond, but maybe not, what could be more beautiful than their world? They probably just said, “Look! Look how magnificent our world is.”

Technique: acrylic on canvas.
Canvas: 90cm x 60cm, cotton 100%.
