Mzee

“Mzee” in Kiswahili means “elder”.

Being elderly in Kenya is in a certain sense honor, and respect for the elderly takes a very important value. What an elder can teach and tell is hardly found in books. Each elder who leaves us brings with him a treasure and a piece of history.

Each face tells a life full of experiences, difficult and fascinating stories.

Looking at this mzee, look in his eyes for what he might tell you. Discover in his smile what were his joys and his sufferings.

Imagine yourself as a child who listens to him and lives with him the emotions that teach you to become a great mzee.
